TARA CROSS-BATTLE

Tara Cross-Battle is one of a select few American players to compete at four Olympic Games in indoor volleyball. She was born on September 16, 1968, in Houston, Texas. She played in the position of outside hitter and was known for her skills as an excellent passer and top-notch hitter. She helped provide a strong offense for her team. She joined the U.S. team in 1990 after a strong volleyball career in high school and college. Cross-Battle played with the U.S. team in the Olympics in 1992 (helping it win a bronze medal), in 1996 (when she served as the team captain), 2000, and 2004. Also during her illustrious career, she won gold medals at the World Grand Cup and Canada Cup in 1995. Now retired from professional volleyball, Cross-Battle coaches for the Houston Juniors Volleyball Club.
